Fellow simulator techs; Just wanted to thank
those of you who attended our OTTAWA REUNION 2007. It was great fun hosting
such a special event. There were 49 of us registered and all showed up
except Harry Warzin, who was not feeling well enough to attend. Harry has
refused a refund of his 45$. Instead he asked me to send the refund to Bob
McQueen in appreciation. We, as the attendees at the reunion, also took up a
collection to help Bob offset his expenses. The total collected is 360$. Our
total reunion expenses were 1,993.45$. Total funds collected from the
attendees were 2,205.00-1,993.45 expenses=211.55$ balance.
A cheque for 571.55$ (360+211.55) will
be mailed to Bob McQueen this week.
We discussed the idea of forming an
association to help Bob defer his expenses. The general consensus was that a
majority would agree to a yearly membership fee. Bob should inform
us to what should be a fair assessment.
A nice dinner was enjoyed Friday after
a "few" at our meet and greet. The bus tour on Saturday took in 2
museums and a great free lunch as well as a city tour. Saturday night was
special, we had a great entertainer who sang and played his guitar during
our dinner. We also drew names for several door prizes and Lou Andre was the
big winner. He won a beautiful Air Force vest. Lou was very deserving for all
the effort he contributes to our reunions.
Next Reunion? Bagotville was mentioned.
Several attendees thought it is a bit out of the way?? I suggested maybe
Quebec City including a tour to Bagotville might work? What do you people
think? Let us get some feedback.
One regret; If I had been more confident in collecting enough money I would of
done a mail out to those of us that do not have an e-mail site. Something to
remember: we are not beer drinkers like we used to be, it was surprising how
much wine we consumed.
