than half of the wheat grown in Canada. But with its impressive network of
parks, historical attractions and performing arts facilities, Saskatchewan
is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in Canada. |
|
Moose Jaw WDM: Until
the early nineteenth century, the chief means of transporting people and
goods across the west was along natural waterways by canoe, or over land
by Red River cart, horseback, pack horse or travois. The railway played
a crucial role in opening Western Canada, delivering goods and
passengers with ease. Later generations experienced the impact of the
automobile and the network of roads carved from the land to accommodate
it. The journey follows the daring attempts to master the sky, using
aircrafts, which were often little more than canvas and wood held
together with prayers and prairie ingenuity. Travel the past with us and
see how our forefathers dealt with distance. For
travelers with GPS receivers, coordinates in degrees, minutes and
hundredths of minutes are: N 50° 25.10´ W 105° 31.81´. They have
four theme branches to one umbrella museum. Rather than build one huge
facility , They spread it around Saskatchewan. Each of us have a
different 'room/theme' around the province. We are the History of

Northwest Territory Canada:
While the Northwest Territories has been part of Canada since 1870,
Nunavut became Canada’s third territory on April 1, 1999. Formed from
the eastern part of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut encompasses a
massive portion of Canadian’s Arctic territory. “Nunavut” is an
Inuktitut word meaning "our land," and this new territory is
home to 25,000 residents, about 80 percent of whom are Inuit. |
|
North
West Territories License Plate History: Being far
up north, and inaccessible to road travel for many years after the
advent of the automobile, the Northwest Territories were understandably
late in issuing license plates. The first vehicle, a Ford Truck,
did not appear in the NWT until 1920, and even as late as 1960, there
were no improved roads linking it to the rest of Canada, when the Mackenzie
Highway was opened from Edmonton to Yellowknife.

Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum.
The CATP Museum is a non-profit, charitable organization founded and
operated by volunteers. The Museum is dedicated to the preservation of
the history of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and serves as
a unique memorial to those airmen who trained and served, and especially
those who died, while serving their country in the air war of 1939-1945.
This is the only Museum in the world dedicated solely to this goal and
we think it is fitting that it is located in Manitoba where so much of
the training was carried out. At the time the Plan was signed in
December 1939, Canada had only 4,000 people in the Royal Canadian Air
Force but enrolment reached 250,000 by the end of 1943. |

Canadian
Airforce History: In historical terms the life span of the Royal Canadian Air
Force can hardly be described as anything but brief, a mere 44 years
from creation to unification with Canada's other two armed services.
Yet, from its modest beginning of fewer than two thousand men, it
reached at wartime peak that exceeded two hundred thousand. The true
measure of its greatness, however, is to be found in its growth and accomplishments,
which both in peace and war are truly magnificent. |

Grostenquin France Home Page:
With the increasing tension between the east and the west in Europe
after the Second World War, the European communities of the west started
discussing a plan for a united defence. From these discussions came the
North Atlantic Treaty Organization. 1 Air Division was formed as
Canada's air contribution to NATO. It was to consist of four wings of
day fighters. These wings were to be located on the continent and
because of the damage to the established airfields, new airfields were
to be constructed. Canada would deploy two wings to France (Marville and
Grostenquin) and two wings to Germany (Zweibrucken and Pferdsfeld). RCAF
personnel began the entire operation with the establishment of a
headquarters in Paris France, which was subsequently relocated to Metz
in April 1953. The RCAF's original concept for overseas service were
tours of one year unaccompanied for married personnel and two years for
single personnel. This changed by late 1953, when it was realized that
many families were going to Europe with their spouses. |
